Drawing the cover, twice

The first engraving was clean and correct and completely dead.

It had everything in it — the ship, the banner, the anchor, the lot. Technically fine. It just sat there. I pinned it to the wall for a week and every time I walked past it I liked it less.

On the second pass the ship got smaller and the water got bigger. That was the whole fix. The book is not about a boat, it is about what the boat is on top of.
